Overview
The Takaad Archive browser extension (“Extension”) is developed and operated by Verify Platform (Verify-Sy). This policy explains what data the Extension collects, how it is processed and stored, and your rights regarding that data.
The Extension enables users to create permanent, timestamped archives of web pages for fact-checking and digital evidence preservation.
Data We Collect
The Extension only collects data when you explicitly initiate an archive by clicking the “Archive This Page” button. We do not collect any data during normal browsing.
Page Content (collected per archive)
- The full HTML content of the page, including text, links, and structure
- Images, SVG graphics, and background images visible on the page
- CSS stylesheets used to render the page
- A full-page screenshot and a thumbnail image
Page Metadata
- Page title and URL (including the final URL after any redirects)
- Domain name and path
- Page dimensions and device pixel ratio
- Capture duration and file sizes
Account Information
- Your user ID and email address (if signed in)
- Archives created without signing in are marked as “anonymous”
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Browsing history, bookmarks, or open tabs
- Cookies, passwords, or stored form data
- Location or geolocation data
- Device identifiers or fingerprints
- Data from pages you do not explicitly archive
How We Process Data
When you initiate an archive, the Extension:
- Scrolls the page to load any lazy-loaded content
- Optionally dismisses cookie banners and consent dialogs (if you enable this option)
- Captures the page HTML with all styles inlined
- Sanitizes the content by removing all scripts, event handlers, and potentially dangerous attributes
- Compresses the HTML before uploading
- Takes a full-page screenshot
All processing happens locally in your browser before any data is uploaded.
Data Storage & Third-Party Services
Archived data is stored using the following services:
- Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) — stores archive metadata
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 — stores HTML files, screenshots, and thumbnails
Both services operate under their respective privacy policies and maintain industry-standard security practices.
Public Archives
Archives created through the Extension are publicly accessible by default. This is by design — the purpose of the service is to create verifiable, permanent records of web content for fact-checking and accountability.
Please be mindful when archiving pages that may contain personal or sensitive information visible on the page.
Permissions Explained
| Permission | Why We Need It |
|---|---|
activeTab | To access the content of the page you are currently viewing when you click archive |
scripting | To inject the capture script that reads page content and takes screenshots |
| Host permissions | To enable archiving on any website you visit |
Data Retention & Deletion
Archives are stored permanently as part of the public record. If you need to request deletion of a specific archive, please contact us at the email address below.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Know what data has been collected through your account
- Request deletion of archives you have created
- Uninstall the Extension at any time, which stops all data collection
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
